After Wulan Guritno was scheduled to be questioned this week after allegedly participating in promoting online gambling. It turns out there are a number of other artists who are also suspected of promoting this.
A total of 26 names of artists including Wulan Guritno were reported to the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Unit by Muhammad Zainul Arifin as General Chair of the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association.
“Today we just visited the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department, especially in Cyber, regarding reports or complaints regarding video content containing gambling which was allegedly carried out by 26 public figure artists who were trying to create content related to the promotion of online gambling videos,” said Zainul Arifin. when met at Bareskrim Polri Headquarters, Monday (4/9/2023).
A number of names are reported to have diverse backgrounds, ranging from film artists, comedians, to singers.
“The first initials are Wulan Guritno WG, FP, DP, Young YL, then DD, then OL, DC, AL, GD, DC, BW, AM, AM, NM, CV, then YY, CC, CH, IM, S, KO, HH, AL, JI, AT, lastly there is ZG,” said Zainul Arifin.
Zainul Arifin himself has video evidence that a series of artists are allegedly promoting online gambling on their social media accounts.
“There are 15 videos that are no more than 1 minute long. What we know is based on the victim’s statement that was conveyed to us through social media, namely Instagram and TikTok,” said Zainul Arifin.
He also estimated payments for artists allegedly for promoting online gambling on their social media.
“That’s a minimum of Rp. 10 million, but a maximum of more than Rp. 100 million. I think it’s impossible for Wulan Guritno to endorse Rp. 10 million, they are brand ambassadors,” he explained.
Meanwhile Wulan Guritno through Bucie Lee, his management representative, claimed to be a victim. Wulan Guritno didn’t know that what was being promoted was actually online gambling, all this time he knew it was online gaming.
“Mbak Wulan was a victim because she received information that it was an online game being promoted by many other big artists,” said Bucie Lee.
Even Wulan Guritno felt cornered because this content had been around since 2020 and was only being questioned now.
