Always yes: Government of Chihuahua will distribute SEP textbooks

After rejecting the legal appeal of the Government of Chihuahua, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ordered the distribution of textbooks of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

The state government will abide by this decision and will deliver the school materials as soon as they receive official notification.

The Secretary of Education, Sandra Elena Gutiérrez, reported that, to date, the SEP has only delivered 65.47 percent of basic education books. However, the setback registered to her legal appeal in the SCJN, Chihuahua reiterates its unrestricted respect for the law.

This Wednesday, October 4, the first chamber of the Court decided to reject the admission of the constitutional controversy 400/2023 promoted by the State, which had led to the provisional suspension of the delivery of free textbooks in Chihuahua.

The state Executive headed by the Governor Maria Eugenia Camposreiterates its unrestricted respect for the law and the Constitution, which is why it will abide by the ruling issued by the ministers of the Judiciary.

Following up on said ruling, in the next few hours work will begin to distribute free textbooks prepared by the Federal Government to the entity’s schools.

Furthermore, the State Government reaffirmed his commitment to educationwhich is the fundamental basis for the development of a society.

Additionally, the state Executive reaffirmed its position of accompanying parents and teachers to give girls, boys and adolescents the tools that allow them to develop freely and in accordance with current needs.

On the other hand, the secretary Sandra Elena Gutierrez reported that they are developing the operation to deliver textbooks to all schools. He commented that they are preparing a count of how many books have been received and how many remain to be delivered by the SEP.

The technical secretary of Educational Services of the State of Chihuahua (Seech), Rosa Lozano Levario, said that for the preschool level there are 100 percent of the books and 98.96 percent of the primary level books.

For the secondary level there is the following data: 14 percent first grade, 2.16 percent second grade and 11.49 percent third grade, he noted. For level of telesecundaria no first grade books have been received70.98 percent for second grade and 71.05 percent for third grade, he concluded.
