MEXICO CITY (process.com.mx).- Club América defeated Chivas del Guadalajara by 4 goals to 0 in the so-called “national classic” played this Saturday night at the Azteca Stadium.
With its victory, the Coapa team took the three points of this matchday 8 of the Clausura 2023 tournament and placed itself in fourth position in the general table with 14 units.
At exactly 9:18 p.m., the initial whistle echoed in the Coloso de Santa Úrsula. As soon as the match began, Guadalajara put pressure on its rival and even the red and white fans chanted in favor of their team.
Those led by Veljko Paunovic took the ball to attack on the wings, but their centers were rejected by the American defense at all times and did not generate a dangerous play.
It was in the 20th minute when the scoreboard moved. Julián Quiñones received the ball in three quarters of the field, after driving it a few meters he opened it to the left end for Brian Rodríguez. The American attacker headed into the red-and-white area and ended up facing five rivals, whom he avoided. He shot at goal and the shot, fortunately for Americans, went into the goal despite hitting the defense.

After the goal, América completely took over the ball and Chivas showed no signs of pride.
Those from Coapa increased their advantage in the 36th minute, when Diego Valdés received the ball in midfield, he had the freedom to advance to the edges of the rival area without anyone coming out to score. The defenders retreated and number 10 did not hesitate to shoot with the inside of his right boot. The ball hit the net to make it 2-0, the score with which the first half ended.

The start of the second half gave the clearest play that Chivas had had up to that moment, as forward Ricardo Marín managed to beat Luis Malagón; Unfortunately for him and Chivas, the goal was disallowed because it was offside.
Guadalajara’s attempt to shorten the score did not last long, since at minute 65 the third fell for América’s account. After a rejection by the red and white defense on a corner kick, Igor Lichnovsky went to recover the ball and then serve it to Valdés, who again was not pressured by the defense and his shot was covered by the net for 3-0 .

14 minutes passed for the home team to give one more blow to the rival. Brian Rodríguez led the counterattack in which he opened the ball to the left end for Salvador Reyes, who crossed; Alejandro Zendejas closed the clamp for the fourth and final goal of the night. America beat Chivas 4-0.

On the next day, América will visit Toluca on Sunday, September 24, while Chivas will host Pachuca on Saturday, September 23.
The American team is in fourth place in the general table with 14 units, while Guadalajara is sixth with 13 units.
