India achieved the biggest win in the final of any tournament in ODI cricket with 263 balls to spare. India won the match with 263 balls to spare. Before that, Australia defeated England with 226 balls to spare in the final of the tri-series in 2003.

Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets giving 21 runs in 7 overs. He also bowled an over maiden. This is the best bowling performance by any Indian in Asia Cup history. Before him, spinner Arshad Ayub took 5 wickets for 21 runs against Pakistan in 1988. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav also took 5 wickets for 25 runs against Pakistan in the same Asia Cup.
4. Best bowling against Sri Lanka
Mohammad Siraj holds the record for best bowling against Sri Lanka. He broke the record of Pakistan’s Waqar Younis. Waqar took 6 wickets for 26 runs at Sharjah ground in 1990. Siraj became the second Indian to take 6 wickets against Sri Lanka. Before him, Ashish Nehra took 6 wickets for 59 runs in 2005.
5. Second Best Bowling in Asia Cup Final (Asia Cup Final 2023)
Mohammad Siraj became the second player to take 6 wickets in an Asia Cup final. Before that Sri Lankan Ajantha Mendis took 6 wickets for 13 runs against India in 2008. While Siraj bowled the fourth best in the final of any tournament in the ODI format. Before that, Pakistan’s Aqib Javed took 7 wickets for 37 runs against India in 1991. After him, Anil Kumble took 12 runs and Ajantha Mendis took 6-6 wickets for 13 runs.
6. Siraj took 5 wickets in just 16 balls
Mohammad Siraj took 5 wickets in just 16 balls in the innings. Equaled the world record of taking 5 wickets in the fewest balls in ODI cricket. Before that, Chaminda Was of Sri Lanka also took 5 wickets in 16 balls against Bangladesh. Vas did this feat in 2003.
7. First Indian to take 4 wickets in an over (Asia Cup Final 2023)
Mohammad Siraj took 4 wickets for 4 runs in the fourth over of the first innings. He became the first Indian player to take 4 wickets in a single over in an ODI match. Only 3 bowlers in the world have managed to take 4 wickets in an over. Apart from Siraj, Pakistan’s Mohammad Sami in 3002 and England’s Adil Rashid in 2019 did this feat.
8. The lowest score in a final ever
The Sri Lankan team was bowled out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs. This score is the smallest score in the final of any tournament. Earlier in 2000, Sri Lanka bowled out India by 54 runs in the final of the tri-series. This is also the smallest score in the final match of the T20 format. Sri Lanka also holds the record for the smallest score in an Asia Cup final. Earlier this record was held by India. In 2008, Team India was all out by scoring 173 runs against Sri Lanka. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s lowest score in the Asia Cup final was in 1988. Then the team was all out by scoring 176 runs against India.
10. Lowest ever against India
The lowest score by any team in ODIs was also made against India. Before Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh team was all out by 58 runs at Mirpur ground in 2014. The shortest ODI between India and Sri Lanka in terms of balls bowled. Only 129 balls were played in the Asia Cup final. India played 37 balls while Sri Lanka played 92 balls. This match was ranked third in terms of shortest ODI. In 2020, the ODI match between Nepal and USA ended in just 104 balls.
