Before the July elections in Japan, public support for Kishida and her cabinet was 55 percent.

Public broadcaster NHK surveyed more than 1,200 people over the weekend regarding the Advisory Assembly (Sangiin) elections to be held at the end of July, surveying public support for Kishida and her cabinet.

The poll result showed that public support for Kishida and her cabinet, who won the October 2021 elections with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), was 55 percent.

Compared to the previous survey, the support rate increased by 2 percent. According to the survey, those who dislike Kishida and his cabinet remained at 23 percent.

The support rates of the Japanese people for the government’s policies in various fields vary.

57 percent of the participants stated that they supported the economic package announced by the government against the price increases caused by the Russia-Ukraine War.

It was reported that the possibility of raising the national defense budget in the face of regional threats was supported by 52 percent of the participants.

Kishida, who gave her first political test in the ordinary parliamentary general election in October 2021, retained her parliamentary majority, although she reduced the number of seats.
