Biathlon World Championships: still gold on the relays? The weekend program

After the new gold medal Thursday February 15 in the mixed relay, the women’s and men’s relays are on the program this weekend.

The French harvest continues at the Biathlon Worlds in the Czech Republic! The Blues had decided to field Lou Jeanmonnot and Quentin Fillon Maillet for the single mixed relay, this Thursday, February 15, and the choice paid off since the duo won the gold medal. The two athletes had already proven themselves: Lou Jeanmonnot was bronze medalist in the sprint last Friday and Quentin Fillon Maillet established himself as the best Frenchman on skis since the start of the Worlds. In this event, France won ahead of Italy who obtained silver and Norway, bronze medalist. With this new victory, the French delegation is on its eighth medal after the seven titles obtained during individual events and races.

This weekend, other medals are expected with the women’s and men’s relays. Among the women, we are aiming for nothing other than gold with a French team that is crushing everything in its path in these Worlds. Among the men, the title of Quentin Fillon Maillet, the 5th place of the individual of Emilien Jacquelin or the good performances of the young Eric Perrot can offer some good prospects.

The racing program:

  • 02/17 – Women’s relay (1:45 p.m.)
  • 02/17 – Men’s relay (4:30 p.m.)
  • 02/18 – Mass start women (2:15 p.m.)
  • 02/18 – Men’s mass start (4:30 p.m.)

What is the French delegation?

The French Ski Federation has announced that Quentin Fillon Maillet, Émilien Jacquelin, Éric Perrot, Fabien Claude and Oscar Lombardot will make up the French men’s team. No Antonin Guigonnat despite his European title a few weeks ago.

For women, no surprises with the selections of Julia Simon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Lou Jeanmonnot, Sophie Chauveau, Jeanne Richard and Gilonne Guigonnat.
