Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had filed nominations in two constituencies for the national elections to be held in 2024. But now the Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected his nomination in both the constituencies. 71-year-old Imran Khan was ousted as Prime Minister in April 2022. He was also sentenced to three years imprisonment in August 2022 in a financial scam case. He was subsequently disqualified from contesting the February 8 national elections due to corruption charges; But even after this, he had filed his candidature for the election on December 29. The Election Commission gave the reason…

The Election Commission of Pakistan said, “Imran Khan’s nomination has been rejected. Because they were not registered voters of the constituency. He has also been convicted by the court in a financial scam case.” Imran Khan’s party sources have also confirmed this and alleged that the most popular leader of the country is being kept away from the elections. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted bail to Khan on December 22.

Imran Khan’s party said, “Imran Khan was disqualified from contesting the February 8 general elections due to his conviction in a corruption case; But he filed his nomination papers on Friday (December 29). Imran Khan also filed a second nomination form to contest from his hometown Mianwali, which has been rejected.”
