Blinken: We are disturbed by the images of Israeli police breaking into Abu Akile’s funeral

In a written statement, US Secretary of State Blinken once again expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of Palestinian-American journalist Abu Akile.

In his statement, Blinken said, “We were deeply disturbed to see the footage of the Israeli police entering Abu Akile’s funeral without permission. Every family deserves to be able to bury their loved ones with dignity and unhindered. We continue to be in close contact with our Israeli and Palestinian interlocutors and their parties will take action that will further increase tensions. We urge you to avoid.” used the expressions.

Murder of Al Jazeera reporter Shirin Abu Akile

Shirin Abu Akile, 51, an experienced field reporter for Qatar-based Al Jazeera television, was exposed to fire opened by Israeli soldiers while he was following the raid by Israeli forces on the Jenin Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank on May 11.

While he was doing his duty and while he was wearing a steel vest with “press” written on it, the death of Abu Akile by shooting with live bullets by Israeli soldiers caused reactions.

Journalist Ali es-Sumudi, who was with Abu Akile, was also injured in the back.

The Israeli police did not allow Akile’s body to be carried on their shoulders and intervened in the funeral with batons, rubber-covered bullets and sound bombs.
