London. Britain’s Defense Secretary Ben Wallace formally resigned from his post on Thursday amid speculation that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will name his successor later in the day. Wallace said last month that he would resign before the next cabinet reshuffle. He served in this position for four years, during which he commanded the military response to the war in Ukraine.
He used his resignation letter to press for increased funding for the military, which had long been his primary issue. “I truly believe the world will become more insecure and more unstable over the next decade,” Wallace said in his letter to Sunak.
He said in this, “Both of us believe that now is the time to invest. Ever since I joined the army, I have dedicated myself to serve my country. However, this dedication has had a personal impact on me and my family.
