Cameroon / Aircraft crash: no survivors found

“The search operations launched on Wednesday to find the aircraft which crashed on May 11 with 11 people on board, ended on Thursday evening,” the prefect of Upper Sanaga, Albert Nanga, told Anadolu Agency. who coordinated the research.

“No survivor was found in the crash of the aircraft of the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company SA (Cotco) which fell in the Bibey forest in the Nanga Eboko area”, Eastern region, underlined the prefect .

On Wednesday evening, the Cameroonian Minister of Transport announced that the aircraft carrying 11 people was located in the Nanga Eboko forest, Haute-Sanaga department, Center region.

The government stressed in its press release that the air traffic services lost radio contact on Wednesday with an aircraft making the Yaoundé Nsimalen-Dompta-Belabo-Yaoundé –Nsimalen route.

“Following the disappearance of the aircraft, air and ground resources were immediately deployed to search for it. The aircraft was finally located in the forest, not far from Nanga Eboko”, indicated the Ministry of Transport.

The plane took off from Nsimalen airport in Yaoundé at 11:48 a.m. and was due to land in Dompta at 1:45 p.m. with 11 people on board. The last contact with Nsimalen airport was at 12:07 p.m.

This incident occurred when much of the Central region was rocked by a violent tornado.
