Catalonia closes 2023 as the CCAA that has received the most from the regional financing system

Catalonia is the autonomous community that has received the most money in 2023 of the 123,356 million euros that the Ministry of Finance has distributed as payments on account of the regional financing system. Specifically, this year it has received a total of 23,255 million, which represents 18.8% of the total.

In the midst of the debate over the reform of the model and the demand of the pro-independence groups for unique financing for Catalonia, On these dates, the Ministry of Finance has released the data on deliveries to accounts that correspond to the year 2023.

The regional financing system operates through payments on account of the tax resources that are estimated to be entered throughout the year in the form of personal income tax (the regional rate) and the percentages established by law that correspond to VAT and Special Taxes and that the central State advances.

In the year 2022, Catalonia accumulated a total of 20,932 million euros, also placing itself in first place in the distribution of these payments on account, while in 2023 it has received 23,255 million euros from this regional financing system.

Andalusia and Madrid complete the podium

For its part, Andalusia follows closely in this distribution, with a total of 23,022 million euros, while the Community of Madrid is placed in third place, with 17,232 million euros of deliveries on account in 2023.

After Catalonia, Andalusia and Madrid are the Valencian Community (11,562 million); Galicia (8,703 million), Castilla y León (7,561 million); Castilla-La Mancha (5,866 million); Canary Islands (5,534 million); Aragon (4,240 million); Murcia (3,783 million); Extremadura (3,574 million) or Asturias (3,186 million).

In last place are La Rioja (1,155 million), Cantabria (2,140 million) and the Balearic Islands (2,466 million), which are the communities that have received the least payments on account until the month of December. Below are only the autonomous cities, Ceuta and Melilla, which have received 43 and 34 million euros so far this year, respectively.


Until December, The Ministry of Finance has delivered 123,356 million euros to the communities, 11% more compared to last year, when 111.2 billion euros had been delivered to the territories.

Payment of payments on account is made monthly, through two payments to the autonomous communities of common regime and to the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla: one at the beginning of the month and another at the end. europe press
