Change Wifi Pro Name to Ukraine, Russian Student Sentenced to 10 Days in Prison

A Moscow court sentenced a student to 10 days in prison. This was because the student changed the name of his Wifi network to a name identified with support for Ukraine.

Reported AFP, Sunday (10/3/2024), he changed the name of the wifi during the military attack on Ukraine. The student at Moscow State University changed the name of his wifi network to ‘Slava Ukraini’. This slogan means ‘Glory to Ukraine’.

A Moscow court found the student guilty of “public demonstration of Nazi symbols… or symbols of extremist organizations,” Russian news agency Ria-Novosti said.

The name of the wifi network was revealed after police officers reported it to the authorities.

It is known that since Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, officials have handed down thousands of prison sentences and fines to people who openly showed support for Ukrainian forces.
