China Makes Upheaval Because of Release of Map of Annexing Disputed Areas

Jakarta

China released a new map annexing the disputed territory. This then makes noise.

It is known that China’s latest map includes Malaysia’s maritime exclusive economic zone (EEZ) claims near Sabah and Sarawak, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Several countries protested against China’s latest map.

India Protests Violent

The map released by the Chinese government on Monday (28/8) annexes the disputed territory with India. India has lodged a “strong protest” at the unilateral claim.

“We have today filed a strong protest through diplomatic channels with the Chinese side regarding the so-called 2023 Chinese standard map claiming Indian territory,” Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said in a statement.

In the map created by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources, the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin plateau disputed with India are Chinese territory.

Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi added that China’s unilateral claims “only complicate the resolution of the border issue.

“We reject the claim because it has no basis, said Arindam.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also called China’s claims “absurd.

“China has even in the past put out maps claiming areas that don’t belong to China, that belong to other countries. This is their old custom,” he told TV channel NDTV on Tuesday (29/08).

India’s protest came days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke on the sidelines of the BRICS developing countries alliance conference in South Africa.

India often reacts strongly to China’s attempts to claim its territory.
