Chivas: They risk their lives! Crucial week for Guadalajara

There is no time for celebrations. Chivas surprised and defeated Cruz Azul at home, but now a double day is coming where they will have to take advantage of the locality in consecutive games to secure their place in the Final Phase of Clausura 2022.

It will be a crucial week. Chivas will play two decisive games on the field of the Akron Stadium. On Tuesday they will receive the visit of the Xolos from Tijuana and next Saturday they repeat at home against Pumasboth direct rivals of the Flock in the fight to secure their place in the Repechage.

Mathematically, since Liga MX re-implemented the Repechage in the competition system, teams need an average of 21 units to access the Final Phase.

There are only three days left in the tournament and Chivas is currently in the Reclassification zone with 17 units. However, they will need to win at least one of their next two home games if they are to make it to the last date depending on themselves to secure their spot in the Repechage.

Otherwise, if they fail to beat either Xolos or Pumas, Chivas could reach the last date with the obligation to win away against Necaxa and, in addition, wait for other results to aspire to a place in the Reclassification.

Compromised team

After debuting with victory against Cruz Azul last Saturday, the interim coach of the Flock, Ricardo Cadena, said he was satisfied with the performance of the players and awaits their commitment to close the tournament in a good way.

“I leave with the feeling of having a group of players that intends to give the best of themselves, that wants to show and let us see that they are committed and willing to give the best of themselves. I keep all that and the possibility of looking for the points enough to continue in the (Repesca) area,” he said.

To achieve his goals, Cadena stressed that he will go step by step and now the most important thing is next Tuesday’s duel against the Xolos team.

“I am an institutional coach. I owe myself and I work for Chivas, and I live from day to day, I’m thinking about the duel against Tijuana “he pointed.
