The tours of the six candidates for Morena, the PT and the Green Party finally ended, which took them throughout the country to get closer to the supporters of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Since yesterday, the process of applying the survey to define who will be a candidate for the 2024 elections began. In Jalisco, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón coincided almost at the same time and both made themselves seen as the finalists of the competition… although apparently Claudia stole the show from the former chancellor.
Why this statement? Simple. Marcelo Ebrard insisted on differentiating himself from Claudia. With the trite “with all due respect”, he assured that of all the morenistas, he is the one who has the most experience, knowledge and proposals. Could be. And that is why it was striking that in her last event, next to the Monument to the Revolution in the country’s capital, Sheinbaum spoke of the “second floor” of the Transformation, which she will direct as a candidate and later President.
He literally stole the concept from Ebrard.
In war and in love, and in the 4T campaigns, anything goes.
A couple of weeks ago, on his social networks, Marcelo Ebrard launched a risky bet: he announced to all supporters of Morena and President AMLO that the dilemma for 2024 is simple: with him, the future of Mexico; with Claudia, stay the same.
And the Sheinbaum team turned it around… now she is the one who announced an end of the cycle with López Obrador. She presented herself as the continuation of the transformation project and the new leader of a political project that began in 2018.
If, as practically all the surveys indicate, Sheinbaum is the leader in preferences, and if his speech manages to “hit” before Morena’s interviews are carried out to announce his final result, he will have dealt the last setback to Marcelo Ebrard.
And thus, a scenario that became a self-fulfilling prophecy in Mexico is consolidated: only female candidates for the Presidency in 2024 and finally, the first female President.
The last thing that remains to be said about Ebrard is that he categorically rejected, almost angrily, that he could accept an invitation to hold public office. He does not want – he said – to occupy any position other than that of President of the Republic. But everything changes. It is to be assumed that if he ends up defeated again in his presidential aspirations (as already happened to him for the 2012 election against López Obrador) and in the likely scenario that Morena retains the Presidency, they will invite him again to form part of the cabinet. . Time will tell.
For now, Alejandro “Alito” Moreno, the national leader of the PRI, closed the clamp to favor Xóchitl Gálvez by acknowledging that the voting trends in the Broad Front for Mexico do not help Beatriz Paredes Rangel. The favorite of social networks already has the support of the three political parties that make up the alliance: PAN, PRI and PRD.
We are headed for the women’s presidential election that will mark a milestone in the country’s history.
Take note… in the internal clash of Movimiento Ciudadano, between Dante Delgado and Governor Enrique Alfaro, there is already talk of Patricia Martínez (also a senator), to be a presidential candidate. Everything between women. It will soon be known.
