GUANAJUATO, Gto. (process.com.mx).- An armed group attacked a detention center for people with addictions – known as an annex – in the Ciudadela neighborhood of Celaya, at the exit to San Miguel Allende. It was preliminarily indicated that four people died.
According to local media, the victims are not inmates who are in this annex, but rather administrative staff or those in charge of the place who were in an office in front of the building.
The Ágora portal announced that two people died at the site, while two other people who were injured died when they were transferred to receive medical attention.
Another version indicates that two people died and there are several injured.
The attack occurred at approximately 7 pm on Saturday, in the two-story building located on Plan de la Noria street in the Ciudadela neighborhood.
The authorities have not reported what happened nor have they confirmed the number of victims. At night, the site was guarded by elements of the Army and municipal police, while relatives of the inmates remained outside waiting for reports on the situation.
According to the first information that is known, the group of men arrived at the place and fired numerous shots at the site with long weapons. Then they withdrew.
