Cooperation of Turkic states in the information sphere is being discussed in Istanbul

The events that have taken place in the Turkic states and neighboring regions in recent years have once again demonstrated the importance and necessity of Turkic unity. This was stated by the head of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration Fahrettin Altun at the 4th meeting of the ministers responsible for media and information and high-ranking officials of the Organization of Turkic States in Istanbul.

A representative of the administration of the Turkish leader drew attention to the fact that the start of the current event coincided with the Day of the Turkic language – May 13.

According to him, the historical ties between the Turkic-speaking peoples are being strengthened due to the deepening of bilateral ties between the Turkic states, including at the level of joint organizations and projects.

Altun recalled that the foundations of the Organization of Turkic States were laid in 2009 in Azerbaijani Nakhchivan, and until 2021 the structure was called the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council). As a result of last year’s summit in Istanbul, the Turkic Council was renamed the Organization of Turkic States.

The head of the department noted that over the 13 years of its activity, the organization has come a long way, turning into a stable platform for dialogue and cooperation, embodying the unity and common will of states.

Altun further focused on the information attacks that Turkic states have to face in the modern world. “Our countries have to confront information wars and disinformation in the international arena. For greater success, we must join forces by implementing effective methods and taking joint steps to combat disinformation,” Altun said.

He stressed that Turkey is determined to protect its citizens and cyberspace with all available methods and means.

The participants of the 4th meeting of the ministers responsible for media and information and high-ranking officials of the Organization of Turkic States were presented with a new emblem of the structure.
