First Lady Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the Turkish cuisine cooking workshop at the “Balıkesir Gastronomy Festival”, organized as part of the 21-27 May Turkish Cuisine Week, organized under the auspices of the Presidency and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
After the Turkish Cuisine Week and the opening ceremony of the festival held in Güre Beach in Edremit district, First Lady Emine Erdoğan went to the kitchen section prepared in the garden of the old olive oil factory and cooked with famous chefs and local women with healthy, traditional and waste-free recipes.
In the first kitchen established here, Erdoğan accompanied chef Ömür Akkor and baker Fatma Erdil to the preparation of Savaştepe’s “mobilization bun”. Handing a microphone to Erdil, First Lady Emine Erdoğan got the recipe for the donut, which dates back to the war period and does not go stale for a long time, and listened to her story.
Tasting the prepared bun with halva and tomato paste, Erdoğan called for this flavor to be passed on to future generations.
Erdogan made “bulgur meatballs with gruel”
Then, Emine Erdoğan rolled the “bulgur meatballs with gruel” made with dried salad shells from the Malatya region with chef Asuman Kerkez and farmer Nuray Bozdağ in the side kitchen.
While Emine Erdoğan’s roll of meatballs in her own style caught the attention of Chef Asuman Kerkez, Erdoğan also touched upon the “waste-free kitchen” during the preparation of the dish.
During the event here, Chief Kerkez informed Erdoğan about Turkey’s wheat varieties.
Full marks for the “root vegetable pastry” made by Erdogan
In the last part of the dinner event, Emine Erdoğan, who went to the kitchen of chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya and market owner Emine Keskin, wrapped the “root vegetable pastry”. Making the pastry, which is very difficult to make, in accordance with its recipe, Erdoğan received full marks from Emine Keskin.
Emine Keskin presented the “Kepsut rug” sent by Kepsut Mayor İsmail Cankul to Emine Erdoğan.
The Turkish cuisine workshop, in which the women accompanying the chefs participated in their local clothes, were completed with colorful images.
After the program here, Emine Erdoğan did not turn down a coffee offer from a nearby estate resident. Drinking the coffee offered to him in the garden of the house, Erdoğan chatted with the residents for a while.
