Erdogan and Aliyev participate in the opening of the 58th airport in Turkey

Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev take part in the opening ceremony of the 58th airport in Turkey – Rize-Artvin on Saturday.

Addressing the residents and guests of the northeastern province of Rize, President Erdogan congratulated the population of the Black Sea region of the country on the opening of a new air harbor.

It should be noted that the first regular flight of the national air carrier of Turkey – Turkish Airlines on the route Istanbul-Rize-Artvin landed on Saturday in the territory of the new air harbor. Travel time was 1 hour 20 minutes.

The new airport with a total area of ​​3 million square meters. m is located in the Pazar district – 34 km from the city of Rize, 54 km from Hopa and 125 km from Artvin.

To date, there are only five airports in the world with a runway built on a sea embankment – two of them in Turkey.

Rize-Artvin Airport will serve about 3 million passengers a year.

The entrance to the air harbor is built in the shape of a tea leaf, and the control tower is made in the shape of a tea glass – a tribute to tea growing, as one of the main sources of income for the inhabitants of this part of the Black Sea strip of Turkey.

The airport car park is designed for 448 cars.

The Çaykur Museum is also open on the territory of the airport, where everyone will be told about the benefits of Turkish tea. There is also a mini-tea factory.

By the decision of the Turkish government, Rize-Artvin Airport received the status of an international air harbor.
