For four months of this year, producers of legumes and oilseeds from Turkey exported products worth $3.6 billion, which is 31.65 percent more than the same period last year.
The Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Union of Exporters of Grains, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products from them (İHBİR) Haluk Okutu Kazim Tayci told Anadolu Agency about this.
According to İHBİR, Turkish legumes and oilseeds hit the shelves in 185 countries in January-April.
Export of products of this sector directly in April increased by 9.3 percent year-on-year to $819.3 million.
“In April, İHBİR supplied legumes and oilseeds and their products to 166 countries of the world. Exports to the United States in monetary terms increased by 44.40 percent ($29 million), Iraq – 9.57 percent ($17 million), Algeria – 212.76 percent ($15 million) and Israel – 62.63 percent (14 million dollars),” he said.
Export of the sector to Germany in April this year amounted to $10 million.
