Fans of the series Peaky Blinders, concerned about the condition of actor Paul Anderson

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Paul Anderson, actor who played Arthur Shelby in the series Peaky Blinders, has fans of the series worried, after photographs of the actor were published in which he appeared unrecognizable.

On December 26, the British actor was accused of possession of crack cocaine, amphetamines, as well as two controlled substances – according to the British media Daily Mail – diazepam and pregabalin. Anderson – 46 – pleaded guilty to all charges and was fined £1,345.

Anderson’s lawyer told the court that his client “is often recognized and goes out of his way to please fans of the show by getting into character,” which is why – according to the defender – “he was recognized that Boxing Day and tried to play for these people. And because of the lifestyle he leads, people often give him incentives,” according to information published by The Guardian.

The actor played Arthur Shelby, one of the members of the Shelby family, who were part of a gang known as Peaky Blinders, involved in all kinds of crimes in the city of Birmingham, England, after World War II. Over the course of the series, Anderson’s character’s opioid addiction was depicted.

According to his lawyer, the actor “was in an unfortunate position and should have had the strength to say no” and denied that his client had smoked crack.

The charges against Anderson and the recent photographs have caused great concern among fans, with some saying they hoped the actor could “receive the help he needs.”
