Hackers demand 1.5 million from the Seville City Council after hacking their systems

The Seville City Council has confirmed that it has been affected by a computer attack carried out by one of the groups of top hackers in the world, which has requested a ransom for the recovery of services and systems, the consistory has reported in a statement. The Seville City Council, which has not provided the ransom figure or confirmed the previous one, has assured that “in no case will negotiate with cybercriminals“, and has reported that the cyber attack it is being treated and investigated by CCN-CERT (National Cryptological Center), with whom it works jointly in addition to the police.

The City Council technicians and external personnel have been working since Tuesday to restore normality as soon as possible after interrupt all services “as a precautionary measure until the specific scope of the cyberattack is known.” At the time of writing this article, the Consistory’s website remained inaccessible.
