Hulk Bank has filed with the U.S. Supreme Court (Constitutional Court) in connection with ongoing litigation after federal and higher courts denied a motion to dismiss the case under the “Foreign Immunity Act.”
According to information received by the AA correspondent, the lawyers of the Turkish Halk Bank filed an appeal on May 13, the last day of the deadline set by the Supreme Court.
Hulk Bank has filed a petition with the Supreme Court, saying they need more time to appeal. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor granted the bank’s request and extended the filing deadline until May 13.
Lawyers for Hulk Bank first petitioned a federal court and then a higher court to dismiss the case under the “Foreign Immunity Act” and announced that they would appeal to the US Supreme Court after the applications were dismissed.
The bank is accused of “violating US sanctions against Iran.”
