What did Rohit Sharma say about team selection?

Rohit said, “In ODI cricket you have more time. In T20 you don’t have time to strategize or think of new plans. It’s not just with us. Each is with the team. This happens in every World Cup. Some players may not make it to the team.

We want to pick the best team for the tournament and in that case we have to leave someone out of the team. The team needs depth in both batting and bowling. The team has lacked this in the last few years. On many occasions we felt that our team lacked batting depth. The job of a player at number nine, ten or eleven is not just to bowl. On many occasions the same players score 10-15 runs. This proves the difference between victory and defeat.

Ajit Agarkar said, “Many players are out of the squad due to injury issues. But, Shreyas and Rahul got fit at the right time. Many names were discussed for team selection. But, the best team should be selected according to the balance of the team. KL Rahul was in good form in Bangalore. But he got injured before the Asia Cup.

Indian squad for ODI World Cup is as follows

Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Akshar Patel, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav .
