Imran Khan | Imran Khan’s Custody Stay Extended; Judicial custody till September 13 | leader








Leaders Online: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was in judicial custody in the Toshakhan case. Then yesterday (August 29) he was granted bail by the Islamabad court. As soon as he was released, Imran was re-arrested within hours in the cipher case. In this case, today (August 30), his judicial custody has been further increased. Hence, Imran Khan’s stay in judicial custody has now been extended till September 13. Therefore, he (Imran Khan) will remain in jail for the next few days, reported Pakistan’s Geo News.

Imran Khan has been arrested under the Secrecy Act in Pakistan in a cipher case. (Imran Khan) has been accused of misusing confidential diplomatic cables (cyphers) for political purposes while in power.

In the Toshakhana case, the Additional District and Sessions Judge had sentenced Imran Khan to three years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees. He challenged this verdict in the high court. The court reserved the verdict on Monday. The High Court had said that the reasons for the stay of sentence would be given in a detailed judgment to be issued later. The Islamabad High Court has suspended the sentence yesterday (29). They have also been ordered to be released on bail.

Clear the way to contest elections?

Imran Khan’s political future was cast in darkness by the court’s verdict on the sentence. After his conviction, Imran Khan was barred from contesting the upcoming elections. But, now that the High Court has suspended the sentence of Imran Khan and ordered his immediate release, his supporters are expressing their belief that Imran Khan will contest the elections.
