In the Kyiv region, the search continues for the bodies of civilians who died as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
So, in the city of Vyshgorod, 45 km from Kyiv, the remains of a middle-aged man were found.
With the participation of local residents, the necessary actions were taken to identify the deceased.
Alina Podreyko, a representative of the police department of the city of Bucha, told AA that bodies of civilians killed in the shelling of Russian troops are found almost daily in the cities and villages of the Kyiv region.
Children are also among the victims, she said.
“Yesterday in the village of Novaya Buda, we found the body of a 69-year-old woman. Two bodies were also found in the village of Shibino. Among them are the bodies of a 10-year-old girl and a man who died due to shrapnel wounds,” she said.
Podreyko noted that many civilians were missing. Currently, local authorities continue to work to find them, she added.
On the night of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Ukrainian Donbas.
Following this, the Russian army attacked Ukraine. Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, were subjected to missile and bomb attacks.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded by saying that martial law is being introduced throughout the country.
The Ukrainian leader also announced a break in diplomatic relations with Russia.
The Kremlin’s actions were condemned at the UN and in most capitals of the world.
