A confrontation between elements of the Navy and alleged criminals was registered this Monday, September 4 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, which resulted in a wounded civilian and four armed men killed by elements of the Secretary of the Navy.
The events occurred around 10:20 a.m. when elements of the Secretary of the Navy killed a man who was moving through the streets of the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood in a recent model Cadillac Escalade van.
The truck has bullet holes in the windshield and on the sides, while the man was left next to the driver’s door and on one side of it was a vest with the initials “CDG”.
A man unrelated to the events who was passing through the area at that time aboard a Buick pickup truck was injured by a lost bulletfor which he was transferred to a hospital for medical attention.
The Tamaulipas Security spokesperson reported that the risk situation recorded was derived from investigative actions carried out by federal and state authorities, related to a kidnapping case.
“Today an operation was carried out for kidnapping investigations by the Secretary of the Navy and the Attorney General’s Office in #Matamoros.”
“The foregoing led to clashes between civilians and said authorities, which seized weapons, radio communication equipment and the reduction of four civilians”.
Due to these events, the United States Consulate in Matamoros alerted its employees of the risk situation, whom it kept under shelter until 1:30 p.m.as reported through their social networks.
“Employees at the United States Consulate General in Matamoros are currently under a shelter-in-place order until 1:30 pm in Matamoros due to gun violence occurring in the city. We recommend that you stay home and stay tuned to local news for updates in your area”.
