Rafah (Gaza Strip). The roads have been badly damaged, due to which mule carts have to be used to bring dead bodies and injured to the hospital. Desperate family members are reaching the hospital with blood soaked dead bodies and injured people. Naseem Hassan, 48, a Palestinian doctor in the Gaza Strip’s southern city of Khan Younis, said it had become impossible to get through Nasser Hospital because of the number of patients scattered everywhere.
He said that as he walked through the hospital halls, frightened patients started pulling him by the arm. Hassan said they writhed on the blood-stained floor, slept and died. Doctors Without Borders said their key staff at the 350-bed hospital were struggling to cope with an influx of more than 1,000 patients.
Hassan said “When I think about it for a moment, my eyes become moist.” UN monitors said the hospital received the first World Health Organization consignment since November 29. The World Health Organization delivered relief supplies to the area for approximately 4,500 patients.
In recent days, Israeli tanks have advanced into southern Gaza, starting with Khan Yunis. According to Gaza’s health ministry, this is the beginning of a new phase of war. According to the ministry, 17,000 Palestinians have already been killed in the war. According to the United Nations, 19 lakh people were displaced due to this.
