Israeli mob blocks trucks and instant noodles for Gaza, US does not accept it

Washington DC

Israeli mobs blocked seven trucks carrying aid to residents of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The demonstrators also ransacked an instant noodle brand from Indonesia. Apparently, the United States (US) does not agree with the obstruction of humanitarian aid.

Reported by the BBC, Wednesday (15/5/2024), US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, said the demonstrators’ behavior was “completely and categorically unacceptable” and the White House expressed concern at “the highest levels of the Israeli government.”

“It’s very unfortunate that someone attacked and looted this convoy,” said Jake Sullivan, reported by Aljazeera.

The Israeli crowd blocking the aid was the Tzav 9 group, a right-wing Jewish group. They blocked seven trucks at a checkpoint near Hebron, West Bank.

The four protesters were arrested by local authorities. The four people included one minor.

There is a video recording this incident, namely from a humanitarian lawyer from Israel, Sapir Sluzker Amran. This incident itself occurred on Monday (14/5) local time.

The Israeli mob could be seen trampling on cardboard boxes of blue instant noodles with yellow patterns. Not only did they stomp, they also slammed and threw the instant noodles.

Piles of cardboard boxes of instant noodles were scattered at the Tarqumiya checkpoint, west of Hebron, south of the West Bank. The instant noodle boxes fell from the truck that was stopped there.

The crowd who destroyed the instant noodles were seen wearing ordinary t-shirts, not uniforms. Among them, some carried Israeli flags. Most of the crowd were men, and some looked young. Some men wear kipahs, a kind of Jewish skullcap.

Humanitarian aid, including food, is urgently needed by Gaza residents, who have been attacked by Israel since October last year. The UN World Food Program has warned that Palestinians in northern Gaza are experiencing “massive famine”. Meanwhile in the south, where most Palestinians seek refuge, the humanitarian situation is getting worse.
