Indonesian President Joko Widodo appealed to people traveling back and forth using private vehicles during this year’s Eid to return early or return after the peak of the return flow.
The government itself predicts that the peak of the backflow will occur on May 6-8 2022.
“After we celebrate Eid al-Fitr in our hometown, of course we will return to our respective places to work and other activities. I want to remind that the government predicts that the peak of the backflow will occur on May 6, 7 and 8, 2022,” said Jokowi, his nickname, in his statement on Tuesday at the Agung Building, Yogyakarta Presidential Palace.
He appealed to people who use private vehicles to avoid the peak of the backflow.
“To avoid the density of backflow, and so that we are all comfortable on the trip, I urge you, I invite you, ladies and gentlemen who travel by private vehicle to return early or return after the peak of the return flow, of course in accordance with the permission obtained from work,” he added.
Furthermore, Jokowi emphasized that the government will always try to do what is best for the community, including arranging return trips with traffic management to relieve congestion.
These various policies, he continued, were implemented for the convenience of the people who travel.
“The odd-even policy, the one-way rule and the ban on trucks from entering toll roads will still be enforced. Everything is done so that the community remains comfortable,” he said
