Liquor for them, cloths for them: controversy over “sexist” gifts during the festivities of a town in Granada

Meanwhile, the opposition, the PP of Albondón, has asked the PSOE that disapproves José Sánchez. The PP, through its spokesperson Francisco del Castillohas asked the socialist to resign after explaining why the City Council has delivered “sexist gifts.”

“It is incomprehensible and out of place,” said del Castillo. He mentions his “disbelief” at the gesture carried out by the socialist government team when “precisely they are the ones who proclaim every day that they are the standard-bearers of gender equality.”

The provincial deputy of Equality in the Provincial Council of Granada, Elena Duque, has urged that situations such as those that occurred in the municipality not be repeated. He has expressed his concern about these gifts, stating that “they represent a distorted image and constitute a setback that deserves the repudiation and unanimous condemnation of the Provincial Council.”

In statements to Europa Press, Duque underlined the seriousness of the events by stating: “We are facing extremely serious events that do nothing more than take steps back in the fight for real equality between men and women.” In addition, he added: “It is outrageous, evokes another era and generates deep shame.”
