Mass Stabbing Horror in Canada, The Perpetrator Is Still a Teenager

A horror incident occurred in a house near the Canadian capital, Ottawa, where six people were found dead. The perpetrator of the murder was a 19 year old teenager who was also a student.

Police said they rushed to a house in the city of Barrhaven, a suburb of Ottawa after receiving a telephone report on Wednesday (6/3) evening, around 23.00 local time. Six victims were found, consisting of four children and two adults.

Reported by the AFP news agency, Friday (8/3/2024), at the scene, police found the bodies of four children, their 35-year-old mother and a 40-year-old man, who police described as an “acquaintance” of the family who also lived there .

The children were a two-and-a-half-month-old newborn, as well as children aged two years, four years and seven years.

Their father, the woman’s husband, was found injured and taken to hospital. Police said the man was in critical condition.

Police found a sharp weapon used to kill and injure the victim. Police Chief Eric Stubbs said the victims were “new arrivals to Canada… originally from Sri Lanka.”

Suspect Arrested

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday evening local time. The perpetrator also came from Sri Lanka like the victims.

The perpetrator was “an acquaintance of the family and lived in the house at the time,” Stubbs said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon local time, without providing further details about the relationship between them.

“This was a senseless act of violence committed against innocent people,” he said. He described “mass murder” as extremely rare or even unprecedented in Ottawa.
