A Palestinian resident died after being shot by Israeli soldiers during night clashes in one of the refugee camps in the West Bank. The clashes show that a series of acts of violence in the Israeli-occupied territories have not subsided.
“Ayed Samih Khaled was hit by a live bullet from the (Israeli) occupation forces which was fired at the head,” the Palestinian Health Ministry said, as reported by the BBC. AFPTuesday (5/9/2023).
The Israeli military has yet to comment on the clashes.
Residents of the Nur Shams refugee camp, which is located near the town of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, said that Israeli soldiers entered the camp area in the middle of the night.
“As soon as they entered the camp, clashes broke out between some of the militants and the soldiers,” said a resident, who declined to be named for security reasons, while speaking to AFP.
“Soldiers came with bulldozers to demolish several roads inside the camp,” he said.
