President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone conversation with United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
President Erdogan included the following statements in his social media account regarding the meeting:
“We had a phone call today with the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres. In our meeting, we discussed regional developments, especially the events in Jerusalem and the Ukraine-Russia war. I told Mr. Guterres that everyone should support the Istanbul Process on Ukraine, too. ; I stated that making efforts to resolve the differences of opinion of the parties would be complementary to the peace initiatives carried out by Turkey. In the meeting where I expressed that we find unacceptable and strongly condemn what happened as a result of Israel’s interventions and provocations against the Masjid al-Aqsa, I spoke with Mr. Guterres and the region. We evaluated the joint steps that can be taken to achieve peace.”
To Mr. Guterres, everyone should support the Istanbul Process in Ukraine; I stated that making efforts to resolve the differences of opinion of the parties would be complementary to Turkey’s peace initiatives.
