Production halted once again at Elephant Oil Field in Libya

Libyan National Petroleum Corporation(NOC) made a written statement on the subject.

In the statement, it was stated that an armed group entered the oil field yesterday and prevented the workers from continuing production. The Authority noted that due to the cessation of crude oil production, force majeure was declared until further notice.

The oil agency called for prudence to protect infrastructure that has been damaged by arbitrary shutdowns in past years, and to keep the oil industry out of conflict.

NOC had previously announced that an armed group led by Mohammed al-Bashir al-Karaj closed the crude oil valves in the Sharara and Fil oil fields in the south of the country on March 4.

The largest field in the Marzuk Basin in southwestern Libya, Fil produces approximately 125,000 barrels of oil per day.
