Social media platform ‘X’ said- will continue to work to address the concerns of the Pakistani government.

The Pakistan government on Wednesday told the High Court that the services of microblogging website ‘X’ have been banned in the country due to national security issues. The services of social media platform ‘X’, owned by Elon Musk, were suspended in February. At that time, former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Chattha had accused the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice of being involved in rigging in the February 8 general elections.

“We will continue to work with the Pakistani government to understand their concerns,” said a global government affairs team at X. The petition against journalist Ehtisham Abbasi was heard on Wednesday.

Hearing a similar case, the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday had directed the Home Ministry to cancel its decision regarding the suspension within a week. The court had adjourned the hearing till May 9 and directed the Home Ministry to explain the reason for suspending the services of the social media platform on the said date.
