Techno show off by launching Phantom Ultimate. This is a rolling screen cellphone that is a competitor to the Oppo X 2021.
Tecno Phantom Ultimate is a concept cellphone, which means it won’t be sold to the market yet. Even so, this cellphone can be operated as seen in the video uploaded by GSM Arena.
The main screen has a size of 6.55 inches. When unfolded, the screen expands to 7.11 inches.
It takes 1.2-1.3 seconds to expand the screen completely. And when the screen is fully stretched, it looks similar to the Tecno Vision V without the crease.
Phantom Ultimate has a single motor drive system that expands the device at the push of a button, located on the upper right side of the phone. There is an additional screen on the back, acting as an Always-On Display.

In terms of specifications, the panel is a 7.11 inch LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and 388 ppi. The Tecno Phantom Ultimate display offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage although that figure is difficult to verify on a concept.
The device is 9.93mm thick at the base, and Tecno promises users can easily hold it with one hand. The device has protective glass for the sliding area and a textured back for better grip.
As stated at the beginning, the Phantom Ultimate is just a concept and there is no indication that it will enter the market in the near future. Of course, some technological limitations have to be overcome in order for us to get our hands on a rollable phone and there’s no telling how long that will take.
