On Sunday, the last, eighth stage of the 57th International Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye started in Turkey.
The bike tour is organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation and takes place under the patronage of the President of Turkey.
The eighth round started from the Ataturk Cultural Center in Istanbul.
In total, 149 cyclists from 25 teams participate in the eighth stage of the race. The length of the route is 141.1 km.
After the start, cyclists will pass through the Dolmabahce, Besiktas, Barbaros Boulevard, Chiragan Street, Kuruceshme districts and continue moving towards the Bebek district.
Cyclists will cross the Bridge of Martyrs on July 15 to the Anatolian coast and head towards the Bostanci region. Then the cyclists will return to the European coast again through the Eurasia tunnel.
The final stage of the race will end at Taksim Square.
For the first time such a bike tour was organized in 1963 and then it was called the Tour around the Sea of Marmara.
In 1965, the bike tour first received international status, and in 1966 came under the patronage of the president.
The cycling tour is the world’s first and only multi-day intercontinental cycling race.
In general, for eight stages of cycling, athletes will have to cover a distance of 1303 km.
The race is broadcast live on TRT Spor Yıldız and Eurosport TV channels.
