The fourth group of Ahiska Turks evacuated from Ukraine arrived in Elazig.
A group of 151 Ahiska Turks, who were evacuated from Ukraine with the assistance of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, were met at Elazig Airport by Deputy Governor Recep Gunduz, with flowers, flags and banners: “Welcome home, dear compatriots.”
The arrivals were taken to the Ashagidemirtash Temporary Accommodation Center.
The number of Ahiska Turks stationed in Ashagidemirtash reached 559 people.
Fatma Rızaoğlu expressed her gratitude to all the statesmen, thanks to whom they safely arrived in Elazig with their families.
Rızaoğlu said that before the war in Ukraine, they had no problems, but as the war began, living conditions became unacceptable.
“Thank God that we came to our homeland. We thank everyone who participated in this. They saved us in the truest sense of the word.”
Gulbahar Osmanova said that the war took them from their homes, they are all saddened, at the same time happy to be in Turkey, which they consider their homeland.
