The Government Delegation approves Almeida’s ‘mascletà’

The Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid has authorized the celebration of the mascletà organized by the City Council of the capital that, in principle, will take place next Sunday, February 18, at the Madrid River King’s Bridge.

This has been confirmed by delegation sources, who explain that they only intervene “in the authorization for the use of explosives and citizen security“, so this approval “does not exempt the need for other authorizations, such as environmental, heritage” or “Municipal ordinances”.

In this way, the ‘yes’ of the Government Delegation does not imply ‘per se’ that the mascletà will finally be held, since this Thursday the Contentious-Administrative Court number 8 of Madrid gave until 11:00 a.m. this Friday for the Madrid City Council to send the reports related to the mascletàby admitting a complaint from an animal shelter to processing.

This protector considers it inappropriate to carry the mascletà to the Puente del Rey due to its proximity to the protected Cottagedeclared as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), and for the fauna that lives in the Manzanares River.

“The shows with pyrotechnic devices carried out by experts whose NEC (net weight in explosive matter) is greater than 100 kilograms may only be carried out with express authorization from the Government Delegation, following a report from the Functional Area of Industry and Energy and the Intervention of Weapons and Explosives of the Civil Guard. of the Tres Cantos Command, on issues related to the transfer of explosives and citizen security,” add the same sources.
