MEXICO CITY (apro).– The Mexican basketball team played today its last group stage match in the 2023 World Cup of the specialty that takes place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. The tricolor team fell 100-72 against Egypt, so they did not reach the next round.
The national delegation did not win any game during the World Cup, as it lost 71-91 against Montenegro and 96-66 against the representative of Lithuania. In such a way that it was positioned in the last place of group D.
Despite the three defeats, Mexico will still have the chance to compete on the court and is waiting to meet its two rivals to find out where it will be located in the World Cup, from 17 to 32.
The first time that Mexico qualified for a World Cup was in Chile 1959, where it obtained 13th place. Later it was in Brazil 1963 (9), Uruguay 1967 (8), Puerto Rico 1974 (9) and Spain 2014 (14).
