“This policeman is dedicated to hitting minors and abusing the people in the neighborhood… Stop abusing small children… Tell him to stop hitting children, to stop abusing them.” Those were the words of the famous purple trap singer in a video that he himself posted on his Instagram in April 2022.
In the images recorded by the singer you could see the face of a Mossos d’Esquadra agent with whom he was arguing when he was fined for improper parking of his car.
This is stated in the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office, which requests for Morad a one year and nine months in prison and compensation to the agent of 7,950 euros. A judge from L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) has sent the ragpicker to trial, accused of slandering the Mosso.
The agent, defended by the Police Union of Catalonia (SPC), filed a complaint against him for a crime of slander against a public official and, secondarily, for a crime of insulting members of the State security forces and bodies. He requests a conviction prison two years and one compensation of €10,950 for the damages and losses caused, the consequences suffered and for the non-pecuniary damage.
As a precautionary measure, the judge requires Morad to provide a deposit of 12,000 euros to face possible civil responsibilities, with the warning that if you do not do so, your assets will be seized until this amount is covered.
“False criminal conduct”
According to the accusation, in the discussion with Morad he suffered humiliation and was accused of “false criminal conduct.”
The events occurred on April 27, 2022, around 7:00 p.m., when a patrol of Mossos agents headed towards Morad in the Florida neighborhood of L’Hospitalet to fine him because he had the car parked wrong.
According to the agent’s indictment, the defendant disrespected his patrol partner – to whom he said: “How beautiful you are, cunt” – and refused to identify himself, showing a “challenging” attitude towards both police officers.
Subsequently, both agents informed Morad that they would proceed to administratively sanction him, for parking in a place not suitable for it, and for disrespecting the agent, at which time the ragman went to the police, telling him “child molester“He approached him and proceeded to record his intervention without his consent or authorization.
As detailed by the Prosecutor’s Office in its indictment, Morad then recorded the police intervention with his cell phone “a short distance” from the agent’s face, making his identification and recognition “perfectly visible.”
“Corrupt, thief, bully,” the singer told the agent
Minutes later, Morad, “moved by the purpose of achieving the widest possible dissemination of the image and appearance” of the mosso, who had acted according to the Prosecutor’s Office “in the legitimate exercise of his duties” and who was “properly uniformed”, hung up the video on his Instagram account, in which at the moment he had 1.9 million followerswith the aim of “vilifying” him and that the agent was subjected to “at least insults and ridicule“both in social networks and in his private life.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Morad acted in this way to undermine the “reputation and dignity” of the police officer.
In addition to the video, Morad also published two photographs where the agent appeared from the waist up and in which his perfectly identifiable face could be seen, with the following text: “Bully! Stop hitting the minors in the neighborhood, stop live corrupt thief and bully people”, as well as “Abuser of minors, bully!!!”.
Due to these facts, the agent suffered a anxious depressive picture with phobias for which he had to take temporary leave from work and was unable to perform his usual chores for 30 days.
Other run-ins with the law
In March of last year, Morad was acquitted for lack of evidence in a trial in which the Prosecutor’s Office asked him for two and a half years in prison accused of trying to break into a home and threatening to kill a neighbor who surprised him, in February 2018.
During the coronavirus restrictions period, Morad was also arrested, in July 2021, for skipping curfew, along with some friends, and allegedly attacking the agents who reproached them for their attitude.
