The residents of a town in Murcia get naked in a solidarity calendar

The Murcian neighborhood association of Peña Zafra de Abajo (Fortuna/Abanilla) has already sold 200 copies of its solidarity calendar in which 18 naked neighbors appear to show the life of the rural world and at the same time raise funds for the activities of the district, festivals and keep traditions alive.

As the town’s mayor, Lucía Nicolás Perea, informed EFE, the calendar includes a single photograph of the 18 neighbors instead of showing a snapshot of a neighbor for each month as was done in 2023. On that occasion Uncle Pedro appeared at 100 years old, but on this occasion the association decided not to include him because it was very cold on the October long weekend when They all got together so that professional photographers Juanjo and David did the work.

The objective of this calendar is to give visibility to a town that four of its houses belong to the municipality of Abanilla and the rest to that of Fortuna.

With the proceeds from the previous year, summer festival activities were paid for, as well as workshops – one on making handmade soap and another on first aid -, as well as collecting garbage in the environment, watering a forest that they planted or a gastronomic day. This next year they plan to carry out a potato route.

The fact that the town depends on two municipalities in some cases causes discrepancies when it comes to dealing with a task such as garbage collection, but in the case of the festivals it is Fortuna that organizes them.

The calendar has been on sale for a month and has managed to sell about 200 copies, some of them abroad, and is arousing interest and curiosity among people throughout Spain.
