There was never any doubt about Donald Trump becoming the Republican candidate for the third time.

Sydney. Articles have been written many times on the political end of former US President Donald Trump, but as part of the process of selecting the Republican candidate for the presidential election in the country, the former President’s impressive performance in the various ‘Super Tuesday Primaries’ concluded once again. He has silenced those people who thought that his political career was over. Even though there has been no official announcement of Trump becoming the Republican candidate in this year’s presidential election, it is considered certain that he will become the party’s candidate after his stellar performance in ‘Super Tuesday’.

‘Super Tuesday’ is the day of the primary election process to select the US presidential candidates, when primary and caucus elections are held in most of the states. Trump faced the challenge of Nikki Haley to become the Republican candidate. Former Indian-origin Governor of America Haley stopped her campaign for the presidential candidacy from the Republican Party on Wednesday.

He has taken this decision after his defeat in the party primaries of 15 states on ‘Super Tuesday’. With this decision of Haley, former President Donald Trump remained the only major candidate in the race to get the presidential nomination from the Republican Party. Ever since Trump first ran to become a presidential candidate in 2015, there have been many occasions when it seemed that the former President’s political career might be over.

These include the release of the ‘Access Hollywood Tape’ in 2016 in which he was seen bragging about sexually assaulting women. He had made objectionable comments in 2015 about war hero John McCain and the families of slain American soldiers and disabled veterans. He said after the Unite the Right rally in 2017 that there were “very fine people” among a group of white supremacists. He was impeached for the first time in 2019 for abuse of power and obstructing the proceedings of Parliament.

During Trump’s tenure as President, his handling of the COVID-19 global pandemic has been criticized. During his tenure, more than four lakh Americans died due to this Pandemic. After this, after his defeat against Democratic candidate Joe Biden in 2020, he was impeached for the second time for the riots in the US Parliament House ‘Capitol Hills’ on January 6, 2021. On all these occasions, especially after the riots on January 6, 2021, many observers thought that Trump’s political career was over but that was not the case. Why is Trump winning the Republican nomination again? None of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and Haley could stand in front of Trump.

Haley’s poor performance on ‘Super Tuesday’ further strengthened Trump’s chances of becoming the candidate. There was mainly no change in Trump’s views. Whatever changes may have occurred in Trump’s positions during the three presidential campaigns, there was not much change in Trump. Despite not holding the post of President, there does not seem to be any change in him nor is there any change in people’s views about him.

Trump’s opponents thought that the scandals that traditionally end politicians’ political careers would ruin Trump as well, but on the contrary, these scandals have increased Trump’s base in many ways. Trump is different from other leaders in modern American history. Trump’s supporters remain completely loyal to him. On the other hand, the campaign team of Democratic candidate Joe Biden hopes that the ‘Never Trump’ alliance will become more active due to the polarizing former President Trump.
