Turkish army kills 52 YPG/PKK terrorists in northern Syria

In a counter-offensive in self-defense, Turkish armed forces “neutralized” 52 YPG/PKK terrorists in northern Syria, a Turkish Defense Ministry source said on Friday.

The YPG/PKK terrorist group launched attacks on Karkamis district and the Koprubati border post in Turkey’s southeastern Gaziantep province on Thursday.

At least 52 terrorists were immobilized in a counter-offensive to defend themselves against positions of the YPG/PKK terror group in northern Syria, a source from the Turkish Ministry of Defense said.

In addition, nearly 60 terror targets were annihilated during the offensive from Turkish forces, the source said.

Turkish authorities use the term “incapacitate” to imply the terrorist in question surrendered, was killed or captured.

Since 2016, Ankara has launched a trio of anti-terror operations that successfully crossed its borders in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terror corridor and enable a peaceful settlement of the population: Operation Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Springs of Peace (2019).

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) – was responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and baby. The YPG is the PKK branch in Syria.
