Turkish leader sends good wishes to Saudi king

ANKARA

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call Monday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to convey his best wishes to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was hospitalized for a medical examination.

Erdogan received information about his health condition and wished King Salman a speedy recovery, according to Turkey’s Communications Directorate.

During the call, relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia and regional issues were also discussed.

On Sunday, Saudi state news agency SPA, citing a Royal Court statement, said the 86-year-old king entered the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the city of Jeddah on Saturday evening “to carry out some medical examinations.”

The SPA did not provide details on the type of examination or the condition of the king.

In March, the Saudi king was hospitalized to replace the battery of his pacemaker. He also underwent gallbladder surgery in 2020.
