Two riders die in the first lap of the Moto GP in Brazil (Video)

MEXICO CITY (apro).- The fourth stage of the Brazilian Motorcycle Championship was marred on August 27 by a tragic accident, in the municipality of Cascavel, in which the pilots André Veríssimo, 42, and Érico Verissimo, of 38 years.

Shortly after the start, on the first lap, André was run over on the track by Érico. Both, who have the same last name without having a family relationship, did not resist the accident.

André had started in eighth place. Coming out of one of the curves of the autodrome, Zilmar Beux fell and ended up in the middle of the track. As he got up, Érico hit him in the face.

The motorcyclists were taken to a hospital, where they confirmed his death. The race was stopped around 1:20 a.m., following the protocols of the International Motorcycling Federation.

The Moto 1000 GP Organization regretted what happened in an official statement.
