United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths will visit Turkey this week to discuss developments and the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
The UN official made the announcement on Monday during a press conference held at UN headquarters.
Griffiths said he will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his visit.
He expressed his satisfaction with the talks between Russia and Ukraine held in Istanbul on March 30 and expressed the wish to see Turkey hosting the talks of the “humanitarian contact group”.
“Turkey is a very important player in this regard. Ukraine has already agreed to participate in the UN Humanitarian Contact Group talks and we hope that Russia will also accept,” Griffiths stressed.
