The United States (US) government announced the latest military aid package for Ukraine with a value of up to US$ 250 million (Rp. 3.8 trillion), including additional air defense and artillery ammunition. The Russian government responded harshly by calling Washington’s decision “the height of hypocrisy.”
As reported Reuters and news agencies TASSWednesday (30/8/2023), the latest US military assistance to Ukraine includes additional mine clearance equipment, missiles for air defense, ammunition for artillery and the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket) system, as well as more than three million rounds of small arms ammunition .
“The United States and our allies and partners will stand together to support Ukraine as long as necessary,” said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a statement.
The military equipment is funded through funding previously approved by the US Congress.
The Russian Embassy in Washington, in its response, described the US decision to send the latest military aid package to Ukraine as ‘the height of hypocrisy’.
“The delivery of HIMARS and other air defense systems and munitions worth a quarter of a billion dollars to the bankrupt regime of (President Volodymyr) Zelensky is the height of hypocrisy,” the Russian Embassy said in a statement posted via Telegram.
“Moreover, the three officials linked military assistance with ‘concern’ for the Ukrainian people. In fact, Washington will not abandon the concept of fighting with Russia until the last Ukrainian citizen,” added the statement.
