Why US Soldier Dies by Suicide While Calling for ‘Free Palestine’

A member of the United States (US) military died after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, as a form of protest against the war in Gaza. This issue sparked a response from the Pentagon.

Reported by Reuters, Tuesday (27/2/2024), Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson, officer Lee Lepe, confirmed the death of the US military pilot.

The Pentagon said the deaths were a “tragic event.” Meanwhile US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is monitoring the situation.

Pentagon spokesman Major General Patrick Ryder said he was not aware of any other acts of protest by members of the military against the war.

The US military member is known to have been hospitalized in critical condition on Sunday after US Secret Service officers extinguished the fire. This was conveyed by DC Fire and EMS previously.

He is known as Aaron Bushnell. The 25 year old man is an active member of the US Air Force. He set himself on fire in front of the Israeli diplomatic mission building in Washington DC on Sunday (25/2) afternoon local time.
